Every June, Q.Digital’s pop culture and entertainment site Queerty honors 50 people who make us proud during the rainbow season. The series culminates with an in-person Pride50 celebration, but this year the party went virtual – reaching a wider audience than ever before.
Sponsored by Amtrak, Nissan, Orbitz, and Wells Fargo, the online event featured intimate conversations with nine of this year’s incredible honorees:
- Actor Haaz Sleiman
- Comedian Margaret Cho
- Country singer TJ Osborne
- NBA star Jason Collins
- PA State Representative Brian Sims
- Actor Sherry Cola
- TikTok star José Rolón
- Actor Alexandra Billings
- Drag Race star Gottmik
The evening ended with an exclusive performance from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 winner Symone, who recreated Janet Jackson’s iconic Herb Ritts-shot “Love Will Never Do Without You” video.
In one highlight, Representative Sims was asked to share words of wisdom to the LGBTQ community, and he kept it both simple and profound: “Embrace your strange.”
The star-studded night was a perfect blend of laughter, lessons, and uplifting moments, reflecting on the struggles of the past year’s fight for equality and looking forward to the world opening up again.
