GayCities members choose Santa Fe, Chicago, Amsterdam as top destinations for LGBT travelers

Over 80,000 votes cast in the American Airlines-sponsored global campaign

Chicago claimed the coveted title of “City of the Year.” Vienna won for “Culture Hub,” while Santa Fe, NM was declared 2013’s “Hidden Gem.”

Best of GayCities 2013 is the largest interactive travel promotion in the LGBT market. The winners are chosen not by editors, but by GayCities members who cast over 80,000 votes in 14 categories.

Best of GayCities 2013 also reflected the worldwide momentum for marriage equality with three new categories: “Global Marriage Mecca” (winner, Amsterdam); “American Marriage Mecca” (winner, San Francisco); and “Honeymoon Hotspot” (winner, Santorini).

One randomly selected GayCities member who voted in the campaign will receive roundtrip airfare for two within the continental 48 states between destination airports serviced by American Airlines.
