GayCities & Lexus Announce Exclusive Partnership, Out In GayCities
Reality road trip webisode series is first ever in LGBT market for luxury automaker
San Francisco, CA, November 5, 2013 — GayCities–the world’s largest LGBT community-driven city guide–today announced the launch of Out In GayCities, a series of reality web episodes that explores the best major cities have to offer, presented by Lexus. (http://www.gaycities.com/lexus/)
The Out In GayCities program–the first custom video series campaign for an automaker in the LGBT market–features two series of five original road trip video episodes released each week this fall.
Each spot, filmed in reality TV format, features a surprise guest who presents the drivers with a challenge to complete before continuing their journey. The programs showcase must-see destinations featuring the Lexus 2014 IS, Car and Driver’s Top Pick, June 2013.
The first series was filmed on the East Coast, originating in Washington, D.C., and cruising to New York City in a red 2013 Lexus LS 460 F Sport All Wheel Drive. The videos feature Steve and Wade, a gay couple of twenty years on a road trip with unique urban stops, including giving relationship advice to the puppets from the hit musical, Avenue Q.
The second series, featuring friends Josh and Justen, rolled in style from San Francisco to Los Angeles in a 2014 Lexus IS 350 F Sport All Wheel Drive. The trip included a visit to a Los Angeles a batting cage for hitting lessons with out former Major League baseball star Billy Bean, now a realtor in LA.
The GayCities-Lexus partnership is the first webisode collaboration between and LGBT media company and a major automotive company. It is one of several custom branded campaigns that GayCities has created in collaboration with major brands this year alone, including Stoli Premium Vodka, AT&T, and Caesars Entertainment.
